You only need embroidery thread (and a clipboard helps to hold the string while you're working on it); tie the strings in a knot down a few inches from the top, clip in on the clipboard, make the bracelet and tie a knot on the other end when it's long enough. Leave enough of a tail to tie the bracelet on to wear it.

Friendship Bracelets...by Brooke
The kid didn't want to sit and type out the directions for making these pretty string friendship bracelets - I got one photo and a quick video showing what she did tho... they are pretty simple and quick to make; watch her technique and then make a few for yourself - to give away or just pile on your own wrist :)
