Tip-sy Tuesday: things you should not put down the garbage disposal

Saw this list of common items that you might be tempted to put down the garbage disposal and shouldn't. I didn't  know a few of these and thought you might be interested as well.  I'm not copying the entire article, just giving you an overview. coffee grounds (forms a sludgy mess and could clog)

potato peels (creates a sticky, gluey mess)

fibrous veggies (celery, asparagus - wraps around the blades)

starchy foods (oatmeal, pasta, beans - expands in water and could clog or not allow proper draining)

grease, fats (solidifies in the pipes)

onion skins, eggshells (potentially coats blades keeping them from being sharp)

paint (including from art projects)

nuts (turns into nut butter and can clog)

pits and seeds (mango, cherries, peach - could bend or break the blades, also cause clogs)

shellfish shells (crab, lobster, shrimp)
