Steak Fries

Have you ever made steak fries? They are very easy, yummy, and a nice alternative to baked potatoes or french fries.

Slice a large baking potato in half lengthwise, then cut into thick slices. Spray a baking sheet with non stick cooking spray. I lay the potato spears on the sheet and drizzle with olive oil, then toss them right on the sheet with some seasonings - you could put the potatoes in a big bowl and toss with oil and seasonings if you'd rather (I like to save on dishes so just toss right on the sheet!). Make sure the potato spears are in a single layer not touching each other, bake in a 400' oven turning once or twice until done - how long you'll need to bake them depends on how thick you cut them. Just keep an eye on them until they're done to your liking, probably around 45 minutes or so.

Season them with whatever you like - coarse salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, thyme, seasoned salt...really, whatever you want. It's all good :)

I made them to go with burger patties (I usually form the patty and then sprinkle with worcestershire sauce and montreal steak seasoning, then grill) and a salad dressed with homemade mustard dressing. Yum.
