Painted Plate

I painted this plate a while ago at one of those pottery painting places - Brooke and I used to go so often that I don't think there were very many pieces left at the store to paint hahaha. It's a little hard to see in these pictures but under the words is an ombre sort of paint effect that looks pretty cool. And after all of the pieces we've done it's fun to try different techniques!

To make this plate I first painted the entire thing with 2 coats of multiple soft paint colors - light blue, green, peach-y pink, and yellow. Once it's completely dry I put letter stickers directly over the base color, then paint over the entire plate including the stickers with a darker teal. The reason for doing the light colors as a base is so the letters would pop after doing a final darker color. When the 3rd coat is completely dry, use a sharp pokey object to carefully pick off and remove the stickers. Once the plate is fired it's sealed with a glossy finish. Cool, right?
