Updated Side Table

before...

I have this little table in my office that is too modern for the space - I was in a 'that's gotta go' mood but then thought maybe it just needed a fresh look. It started with the frosted glass top that was a weird off white greenish color - I happen to have a fresh roll of that woodgrain contact paper (are you sick of seeing that stuff by now? So far I've made Sarge's 'doghouse' and covered the chair backs at our new game table with it) so I simply cut out a big circle and stuck it to the top. Much better. It was still pretty modern looking tho with the metal legs so I got some thick twine for $3 at the hardware store and started wrapping. I didn't glue anything and the contact paper can easily be removed so I haven't permanently changed the table if I ever want to change it again. Easy fix and it looks so good now in my little space!

Covering Side Tables

We have 2 big mirrored dressers next to each side of the bed we use as nightstands - they have big drawers which is nice for storage and a large top for the lamps, etc. All well and good except the mirrored top drives me crazy with dust and fingerprints! Argh! I can clean them every day and still see dust...hate that. So with the leftover contact paper from Sarge's dog house (click here for that post) I covered up the table tops - yes I get the dust is still there but at least I don't have to see it every day! A quick simple solution :)

Contact Paper Dog House

Had an idea to decorate the area in the kitchen around Sarge's food and water bowls by making him a "dog house" out of wood patterned contact paper stuck to the wall - just trace the shape you want on the back of the paper and cut it out, piecing it together where you need to. I hung a plastic frame on the side of the cabinet using a removable command strip so he has a picture or words to think about while eating haha :),  and then since it's December he got his own little Christmas tree...

Sure this is silly, but it makes me laugh and Sarge doesn't mind - so why not?!
