Pop Tab Earrings by Grace

Another cute and creative project from Grace, in her words: 

Materials

Pliers, soda tabs, earring loops and chain the length you want your earring to hang

First you're going to need to open up a chain link on both ends

Then put the tabs in one of the open links, then put the earring loop in the other (or if you don't want them to dangle on the chain just put the tabs and the earring loop in the same open link)

Close that bad boy up and boom - you got a cute earring 

Jill here - last time I saw G she had on one pop top earring and one zipper pull earring and I loved how original and hip she looked! Whodathunk to make cool earrings from pop tabs?!

Fish Lure Earrings

Ok, you might think I've gone a little crazy - but have you seen how pretty some fishing lures are? I was trying to clean up a big jumbled mess of Dave's (he had lures and fishing line and all kinds of stuff mixed together in a giant basket, it was crying out to me that it needed organizing!) and came across some lures that I wanted to make into earrings; of course when I asked if I could have them (finders keepers and all that) he said no cuz he actually fishes with them. Whatever...so I found my own at Meijers to see if I could make something fun out of them. And look - they turned out good!

Super simple - I glued a couple seed beads to the pokey hooks so I wouldn't stab myself when wearing them, attached the lure to an earring wire with a jump ring. That's it.

They are lightweight and colorful, I picked out some inexpensive somewhat plain ones since I didn't know how they would turn out - now I'm sort of hooked (HA, a fishing joke!) on making these and think I'll go to an actual fishing store and pick out even nicer ones for future jewelry making projects ;)

I use tweezers to open the jump ring. try to
not twist the ring when you open it, it'll make
it easier it back up.

glue small beads on the hooks - of course be careful, the hooks are sharp!

Button Earrings

I love buttons! I have a big container of them and am always looking for pretty, interesting, vintage, you name it, new ones...today I turned some into earrings - fast, fun, and pretty inexpensive (depending on your button!).

It's a quick project that doesn't require any jewelry making skills or a lot of supplies -  you only need either gold or silver earring posts (find in the jewelry making section of the craft store - they are a flat disk with a post attached, see picture), 2 buttons of your choice that have a flat back, and a hot glue gun.

I don't have pictures of my making these because it's pretty self explanatory - simply hot glue the button to the earring post. That's it! Cute gift idea or quick accessory to make for yourself :)
